DraftScreens vs Claude Design: which AI app designer fits you?
Anthropic's conversational design canvas inside Claude, a research preview since April 2026. DraftScreens is an AI designer that only does mobile screens, in one design language per project, with a visual editor, a clickable prototype and exports to Figma and code. Here is how they compare, including when Claude Design wins.

The short version
Claude Design is a fast general canvas for prototypes, decks and pages, bundled with paid Claude plans and with no Figma export. DraftScreens does one thing: mobile app screens in a committed design language, with Figma layers and a tap-through prototype.

Which one to choose
Choose Claude Design if
Pick Claude Design if you already pay for Claude and need a deck, a landing page or a quick web prototype, or you want the shortest path into Claude Code.
Best for: People already paying for Claude who want a fast first draft of a prototype, a deck or a landing page.
Choose DraftScreens if
The product is a mobile app, the screens have to look designed rather than generated, you want to tap through it on a phone before writing code, and you want Figma layers and a hand-off that a coding tool can build from.
Claude Design: strengths and gaps
What Claude Design does well
- Turns a conversation into a working prototype, deck or marketing page
- Reads your CSS, Figma exports or screenshots and applies your colours, type and components
- Hand-off straight to Claude Code, plus connectors to Canva, Lovable, Replit, Vercel and more
- No extra cost on a Claude plan you already have
Where it falls short
- A general canvas: mobile screens come out phone-sized, not designed around iOS and Android conventions
- No Figma export or Figma connector; exports are ZIP, PDF, PPTX, HTML and Canva
- No free tier
- Still a research preview, so limits and features move
What DraftScreens does differently
Mobile only, on purpose
Every screen is a 390x844 phone screen. The generator is prompted like a senior mobile designer, never like a web page builder.
One design language per project
A flow is planned first: palette, type, radius, spacing. Every screen and every edit is held to it, so screens do not drift.
Edit anything, or ask
Select any element and change text, colour, spacing, layout or its tap link; or select it and tell the AI what to change.
Your brand, every screen
Studio plans ingest a design system: palette roles, fonts, voice, rules and logo drive the planner and every screen.
A prototype, not a picture
Buttons, tabs and rows carry links. Preview in the studio or scan a QR and tap through on your phone.
Exports that survive the move
Editable Figma layers, HTML per screen, a prompt pack for Cursor, Claude Code, Lovable and v0. Failed generations are never charged.
Questions people ask
- Is Claude Design free?
- No. Claude Design comes with the paid Claude plans (Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise) and is not on the free plan. DraftScreens has a free plan with one design a day, up to five a month.
- Can Claude Design export to Figma?
- Not directly. Its documented exports are ZIP, PDF, PPTX, standalone HTML and Canva, plus a hand-off to Claude Code. DraftScreens exports every screen as editable Figma layers on its paid plans.
- Is Claude Design good for mobile apps?
- It can draw phone-sized screens, but it is a general design canvas for prototypes, decks and pages. DraftScreens only designs mobile app screens and keeps one design language across the flow.
- Can I use DraftScreens with Claude Code?
- Yes. The prompt pack export is written for Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable and v0, so the screens you design are what the coding tool builds.
